Divided - United!

I lift up my eyes to the hills - from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord ...” ~ Psalm 121:1-2

We are living in a world of deep divides (think of politics, racial and social tensions) with ramped up rhetoric, and rising disgust and anxiety. In this 21st Century where do we go for wisdom and direction? Where can we find a better way to live, deeper truth to follow, and more abundant life to share?

My suggestion is that we start by… going back to the water...

Of course, it's not really the water itself, but the promise God made to us in the waters of baptism: Joining with Jesus... our sins are drowned... we are raised to new life... and God's great power is poured out for us! ~Romans 6:3-4

Next, let's come back to the Lord’s table, where He takes two more simple elements ...

...and promises that Jesus the Christ is present in the bread and wine of a sacred sacrament… Holy Communion. It's a presence so powerful that whenever we receive this meal with faith, forgiveness is done! Life is renewed! Let’s relish on God's life-giving promises for us through these two sacraments... and for the healing and hope of our fractured world. Come, taste and see of Him who died for you and for me!
