I was born in Mobridge, South Dakota, (which would qualify for me to live in Lodi) while my father was a Pastor of three small churches. I am the third of seven boys and two girls. I spent my childhood in rural Wisconsin. In my teen years our family moved to Woodland, California. My education was in Lutheran grade schools, High School, College and Seminary.
I was ordained in 1973 and have served churches in Red Bluff, Corning, Paso Robles, Aiea, Hawaii, and Stockton. A career change took place in 2003 at which time I served as a chaplain for Hospice of San Joaquin, retiring in December 2020.
Betty and I have been married for 54 years. Together we have three children, eight grandhildren and two great grandchildren. We have lived in Stockton since 1987.
